Can I take bike on train?

I will be cycling in Algarve. Wondering if on return to Lisbon we can take our 2 bikes on train Lagos/Tunes/Lisbon. Any advice much appreciated

You can take bikes on local trains without problem but on long distance trains there are certain conditions. You can read them in full here (in Portuguese) on pages 18 and 19

But the essential part, translated, reads

It is not allowed to carry bicycles on long distance (ie Intercity or AP) trains of CP except (if they can be) disassembled and properly packed as baggage, subject to sub-III.6.1

There are two very slow local trains each day from Tunes to Setubal and Barriero (opposite side of the river from Lisbon) on which your bikes would be carried without dis-assembly.
