There have been Air Transat flights in previous years. May be worth checking.
If not, the alternative is to fly to Lisbon with anyone then you have the choice of three connecting flights per day with TAP or bus or train or self-drive, but the latter might not a good idea with jet lag.
Bus or train will take 3 - 4 hours plus time taken to get to bus terminals, train station etc or driving about 2hrs 30 minutes.Edited: 4:00 am, March 20, 2013
http://www.airtransat.ca have direct flights (7 hours or so) but not many.
Sata does not have direct flights in August.
Air Transat has not operated the direct route during the European Summer as long as I can remember.
You could call their helpline on 1-866-847-1112
Apart from routing via Lisbon you may be able to get one-stop connections with minimum hassle via Lufthansa.com.
BA might also offer a connection but you would probably have to change airports.
