Excursions March 11th - 18th

We will be travelling with our 9 month old baby. Can you kindly give us a heads up of possible excursions that would be suitable? We are staying at the :

Real Bellavista Hotel & Spa

Av. do Estádio

PO Box 2445

Albufeira 8200-127

Portugal

Are there likely to be any boat trips available that time of year?

Thanks for your help.

Your best bet is to go to one of the nearby ticket shops when you get here and see what is on offer. It is very difficult to say exactly what is available when out of season.

You are likely to be able to go to the usual tourist places like Cape St Vincent, Alte, Monchique, Sagres, Loulé market etc, but if it's not a nice day it might not be much fun being outside.

Boat trips are unlikely. The sea is often too rough and it could be raining. Again, the ticket shops should know.

You can get to places like Vilamoura from the bus tops near Real Bellavista.

If you'd like to take an excursion through a company, there are various and they offer tours of a few hours and full day tours:

www.algarve-tours-excursions.com/index.php… and

http://followmetours.ondebiz.com/

http://www.city-discovery.com/region/Algarve

http://www.paradise-tour.com/excursoes.htm

Because it's not yet season, not many tours will be available. You can book them through your hotel or one of the ticket sales offices around.

The child may yet be too young, but there is a little playpark and cafe just past stadium, about 500 yards downhill to the right. Yes ... Faro, Vilamoura, Quarteira from the stop down at Modelo shopping ... you`ll probably miss the Albufeira market (Mar 18) ... so the most likely one for you would be Quarteira on the 12th.

You might think about the Train ... local line between Lagos - Albufeira - Faro - VR S.Antonio is quite cheap and there is service to Lisboa and Porto, which Cubsur can advise on.

Any ideas on roughly how long the drive would be to Lisbon from Albufeira?

Looking for some opinions from locals or people who have hired a car and driven to Lisbon on there own....would you recommend this method of travel with a 9 month old versus a coach trip?
