Weather in January

Looking at doing a short break in January just wondering what the weather is like then? Also what is there to do and see in January and any restaurants to visit?

It can be wet and relatively cold, it can be quite nice or anything in between!

Averages are daytimes 15 - 16C, night times 8 or 9 C, windier and slightly colder the further west you go in the region. Rainy days are not uncommon, but it's usually heavy showers rather than day after grey day.

But be prepared for cloudy and cooler days, or on a nice day like we had here on Saturday it can be 18 or 19C. Not exactly beach weather, but a distinct improvement on UK temperatures.

As for restaurants, many places whose main trade is tourists will not be open. However, 41,000 people live in and around Albufeira so the places where residents go will be open.
