Setubal-Troia

Is there a bridge between Setubal and Troia? Why don't I see it on Google Maps/Earth? There is just a dotted line - ferry?

Thanks,

P

Very scenic. I went most of the way by bus earlier this year. You cannot rush down that road, some parts are a bit hilly with some nice twisty bends. There is hardly any traffic. Find the N120 on your map and follow that south.

By bus it takes 3 hours to Lagos, so you can easily do it one go by car, or maybe stop off somewhere half way like Vila Nova das Milfontes for a couple of hours by the sea in a decidedly non tourisity location.

We will depart Lisboa at 11am driving south toward Vila do Milfontes where we stay overnight. Would like to be in Vila do Milfontes by 3-4PM and plan to visit Porto Covo on the way there.

Will it make sense (time wise and scenery wise) to include Sesimbra, Troia, then join N261 to Sines and finally join N120? Or should we just take direct highway Lisboa to Sines and then to N120?

Will the scenery be the same/similar? How much time will it add to our trip?

Thanks,

P

If you are departing at 11pm it makes sense to go to Sesimbra if you plan to have lunch there, then go straight to Porto Covo and V. N. Milfontes by highway. If you want to cross the river at Setubal try to have lunch at Comporta (Troia is worth for the beach not the resort), then follow N261 and N120.

Thank you 64novpt.

Is it easy to cross the river at Setubal? Do we need to pre book the ferry?

Thanks,

It's easy to cross. If you look at the website given in post 1 you get all the info. You can just show up. And some more info: SesimbraPortugal.net/setubal/Troia-peninsula…

Additionally a website with info for Sesimbra: http://SesimbraPortugal.net/index.html

And for the Parque Natural da Arrabida, between Sesimbra and Setúbal: SesimbraPortugal.net/sights-attractions-actv…

Not possible to pre-book, if it's a weekend you may have to wait in a queue. Usually on weekdays there's no queue...
