Hi,

Do you need advice about BRUGES (correct forum) or BRUSSELS (wrong forum, post again on tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g188644-i205-Bru… )?

Kind regards,

Sabrina

Whether you want to go to Brugge or Brussels, BRU is going to be a lot closer than CRL, which is one hour further away, on the wrong side of Brussels.

If you want a hotel right next to Brussels' "Winter Pleasures" market (which is not exactly Christmassy btw), both the Marriott and the Welcome Hotel fit the bill. For Brugge, the centre is very small so it hardly makes much difference where you stay.

If you mean you want to stay in a city which is central to ALL Christmas markets - do you really mean all Belgian cities that have a "Christmas" market on your particular dates - in which case, what are they? For example, the one in Mechelen is only on on 14-16 December 2012.

If you just want to stay somewhere which is central to Brugge and Brussels, these are only 1 hr apart by the fastest trains (InterCity, headed to Oostende or Knokke/Blankenberge) so you could stay in either and still visit the other from there; otherwise Ghent is the halfway point. If, on the other hand, you would also be visiting the market in Liège, you would do better to stay in Brussels.

sorry sabrina wrong forum we have booked crl airport which was not our 1st choice but done now ,im annoyed now that this airport is so far out of city a weekend goes quick enough without extra travel on trains buses etc.im panicking we will get charged high prices as we are new to this country.

a new country is exciting though and we will stay confident we will enjoy our trip .we will arrive in belgium on 7th dec and leave 10 dec(winter wonderland) we hope to enjoy great sites and food/drink plus spot of xmas shopping oh and some ice skating perhaps

Hi from Belfast!

You'll get more help by posting on the Brussels site if that is where you are staying. If you've never been to Brussels before then I'd recommend you stay near the Grand Place. You may get a better deal around Avenue Louise, but if your time is limited you want to be near Grand Place, Place St Catherine and the Xmas markets (which run between these 2 locations). I'd go for marriott brussels if you can - location is seconds away from both locations I mentioned and right on route for Xmas markets.

Enjoy! (ps we'll be there at Christmas also for 2 days then off to Bruges for 4)
