boat tour

hello to all Belgium forum!

Last year I enjoyed a lot a boat tour on the channels of Bruges. Are there in Gand also?

From where do they start?

Yes, there boat tours of the river and canals in Ghent from both:

- Korenlei, by the bridge going across the Leie from Korenmarkt: www.debootjesvangent.be/en/city-boat-trips and

- Kraanlei, by the bridge going across to the castle (Gravensteen) from Groentenmarkt: www.boatingent.be/en/practical-opening-hours

I'm debating if I should take a boat tour in both Bruges and Ghent. Are they significantly different that I should take both? If not, then which is the prettier one?

Of course they are different, because the cities (and the boats) are different! I suggest you look at videos/ photos and decide for yourself whether you want to do both, one (and which one) or neither:

- boat trip Ghent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o627_wtpp7E

- canal boat tour Brugge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPQrruDV5nk

Haha yes I'm aware that they're different because they're in different cities, duh.

And yeah YouTube is blocked in China, but thanks for trying anyway!

They are not that different, the experience will be similar. (The tour that I did in Gent last year or so was in a boat very similar to the ones in Brugge.) So if you do only one of them you will not miss a lot.

But why would you even plan this? Just do what you feel like doing when you are there (and can see the situation for yourself). There is no need to reserve or buy tickets in advance for this.

kbbcn, thanks for your helpful reply. If you had to pick one out of the two, which one would it be?

And yes I do want to plan in advance because I have too much to see in too little time, so I need to be time-efficient and cost-efficient.

I have no preference, but Brugge is the "best known" for this.

Oh, and don't forget to plan some time to actually enjoy your trip... ;-)

I was leaning towards Bruges too, but I have too much to cover there, and a bit more free time in Ghent. Oh, it's a tough choice!
