long delay at brussel airport any suggestions.

just been informed by budget air, flight times from mombassa to brussels has changed dramatically,we land approximately 0600am at brussels, our flight home to birmingham ,uk, has been put back to approximately 2100pm,meaning a long wait of around 15 hours, for such a short flight,i know you get what you pay for and all that but a big dissapointment on a long haul flight back from kenya,,,any tips, suggestions would be appreciated, one of us have been to brussels before, cheers.

Oh dear, what a tiring journey. Anyway, from the station below Brussels Airport you can take a train into the city which runs every 20 mins or so and takes 12-20 mins to Gare centrale, cost €8.50. That station is about 5 mins walk from the Grand' Place, which is worth seeing, and you might also like the nearby Galeries St. Hubert, full of chocolate and other shops. There are plenty of beer cafés in the area too, on and off the rue du Marché aux Herbes e.g. à l'Imaige de Nostre Dame, and the Toone puppet theatre in the petite rue des Bouchers has an atmospheric little tavern too. Don't eat in the Ilôt Sacré area (rue des Bouchers, petite rue des Bouchers..) as it's a tourist trap, but the places in the gallery are fine.

If you wanted to, you can take a hop-on, hop-off bus from near Gare centrale to see something of the city, otherwise what you might do would depend significantly on what your interests are. See e.g. tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g188644-Activiti…

Alternatively, there are direct trains from the airport to Leuven (15-20 mins), Antwerp (34 mins) and Ghent (53 mins - 1h32 depending on departure), and Brugge is less than 30 minutes from Ghent.
