Why is this hotel so cheap in August?

I'm looking at the Hotel Du Congres in the beginning of August and it is £37, yet I have looked at dates in May and June and they're nearly £100 or even £110+. Why is it cheap for August? Is there a time when Belgians escape, like Lille where they abandon town?

Brussels is a business rather than a tourist destination, and that is why Brussels hotel prices are generally lower at weekends (at least Fri and Sat night) and in August than at other times.

The Belgian holiday month is more July than August, but in any case, it isn't Belgian holidays that affect the demand for hotel rooms in Brussels. This is low between mid-July and the end of August because no EU (and related lobbying etc.) meetings take place then: which is partly because any meetings, conferences, etc. involving different European countries have to take into account virtually fixed vacation periods in some of the countries concerned, such as France and Italy.
