Are you sure the cruise documents are not more precise than this? Kattendijkdok covers 3 quays - North, East and West, that is Noordkaai, Oostkaai and Westkaai. If you have luggage, and I suppose you may have a lot for a cruise, I would strongly recommend you take a taxi anyway. There is a number 9 bus from Berchem-Cogels, a few minutes walk from Berchem Station, that would bring you in about half an hour to Rijnkaai - however I have no idea how close this would be to the exact location where you have to board the ship.
But maybe Amboseli will know..?
I don't know if it helps, but I found a map of Antwerp's dock area, if you move your mouse over the part closest to the city centre, you will see Kattendijkdok (no. 8), while Berchem station is some way beyond the bottom right-hand corner of the map: planetware.com/map/antwerp/docklands-tour/ha…
As you look at Kattendijkdok on that map, the left-hand side is Westkaai and the right, Oostkaai (Noordkaai isn't marked on my map but I would guess it may be around Mexicostraat on the top right-hand side). From its length, it looks as though Oostkaai is the most likely candidate, in which case from the no. 9 terminus on Rijnkaai you would walk 3 blocks "inland", cross Londenbrug (London Bridge), where the Flandria boats leave from, and turn left, but then I don't know how far up the dock you would have to go - although you would probably be able to see the ship from the bridge.
You could also take a train from Berchem to Central Station, to reduce length and cost of taxi ride to the docks. However, for public transport this doesn't seem to me to help as neither the 9 nor the 1, both of which terminate near Kattendijkdok, pass as close to Central Station as the 9 does to Berchem.
Very helpul. Thank you.
Do you know the nearest railway station to Kattendijkdok?
As I already said in a previous answer, Antwerpen Centraal is closer to the docks (all of them) than Antwerpen Berchem, but the latter has better public transport connections. In Bob's case, he has/had to arrive at Berchem as that is where trains stop on the Paris-Amsterdam route.
