lifts at train stations?

We are flying into Rotterdam's airport with 2 heavy pieces of luggage and want to get to the Beurs stop and then walk to accommodations. Been looking at different sites but can't figure out if there are stairs along the journey...to get from airport to Centraal and then Beurs. Would it be possible to get to Centraal from the airport by train and then to Beurs by tram as a stair free way to travel? I tried searching this site but couldn't find stair information. Thanks for any help/advice!

Hi there,

Central station has both elevators (lifts) and escalators. Beurs station has an elevator like (almost) any RET station and escalators too, so yes it would be fine. But there are also quite a few trams doing that route, www.9292.nl/en gives all options.

All the best,

Thank you for your reply and information. In the past we've found stairs the only way out when having to exit a train station so want to plan the route ahead when traveling in a place for the first time. Trams look great! We will be spending 3 days in Rotterdam before a Baltic cruise - all new territory for us and we're looking forward to the adventure.

If you are in Rotterdam I have to say a trip on a water taxi is like nothing else in the world.

There's no train from Rotterdam The Hague Airport to the centre of Rotterdam. You'll have to take a bus, though, with your suitcases, a taxi might be preferable.

Well the bus brings them directly to Central Station, from there it's tram (or metro) as written above. Alternate route is the free shuttle bus to closest Randstadrail E metro/light rail station (which has escalator/elevator too); from there the metro brings you directly to Beurs metro station.

All the best,

Assuming you're coming from New York, aren't you flying into Amsterdam airport?

No, we flew into Rotterdam's airport - much smaller than Amsterdam. Worked very well. Took bus to central train station and then tram from there. Very easy - no stairs.
