You could go climb Westerkerk tower for great views over the Jordaan and canal belt, or have drinks at the rooftop bar in DoubleTree hotel, nice views over the oldest part of the city.

Or go to Noordermarkt vintage market in the morning (until about 1pm) and have the city's best apple pie at Winkel 43.

Or Albert Cuyp market near Heineken Experience and try 'poffertjes' (mini pancakes with powdered sugar) or 'stroopwafels' (maple syrup waffles) there and have lunch at Bazar.

Or go to Stadsarchief / City Archives and see the Ed vd Elsken photo exhibition of Amsterdam in the fifties, sixties and seventies.

We replaced Heineken with Brewery 't IJ on our itinerary as well. But we're considering the House of Bols tour if we can fit it in.

What about the Amsterdam DNA Museum, I found it very interesting

http://amsterdammuseum.nl/en/amsterdam-dna-0

Or a canal house museum, typical for the former Amsterdam, as Museum Van Loon or Museum Geelvinck

iamsterdam.com/en-GB/…20Amsterdam

It just takes about 1 hour or slightly more each (not the DNA, that takes longer)

Or a short ferry ride across the Ij and a visit of the famous new film museum Eye

Just some more suggestions.

I enjoyed Amsterdam Historical Museum about how the area developed. The Tropical Museum is very good and the Artis Zoo is nearby with the butterfly aviary.

Experts-- What is the lovely little hidden area near Spuistraat where pensioners used to retire?? And the secret entrance ? Worth a visit if you can find it.

Cheers!

There are two entrances, one of them is easier to find:-)

It´s a very calm and peaceful area in the middle of all the hustle and bustle in the city.
