NS does it again....

According to local news station AT5 , NS has introduced a new hotkey button on the ticket machines. The button on the main screen gives the opportunity to purchase a ticket to and from Schiphol from all Amsterdam Stations for 4 euro. Whilst purchasing a regular ticket from for example Amsterdam Zuid only costs 2.60 euro.

After the misleading comfort class tickets this has become the new version of ripping of tourists.

LOL @Canadianboy, yeah, I got those messages when looking for a hotel in Cologne. Only 3 rooms left! But in the end my entire volleyball association and friends were able to book there, must have been at least 15 rooms.

And another piece of 'progress', sorry for now Dutch-only:

nu.nl/binnenland/3809588/ns-garandeert-reizi…

With an app, and paying the princely sum of 5 euros, NS 'guarantees' that the traveller reaches Schiphol in time for a flight.

Something which would be their normal, surchargeless, duty anyhow methinks? ;-)

Have fun,

What if an accidents occurs? For example at a level crossing. Or a suicide on the rails? Or a train gets broken? I doubt that any railway company in the world would go as far as providing taxis so that their passengers are in time for catching a plane.

Well THAT's what NS promises, keeping our fingers crossed for the first acid tests and passengers having paid these 5 euro extra shouting for help ;-> Most likely cause for delays/cancellations is yet another false fire alarm in the Schiphol tunnel, we've had these almost monthly for the last year or so and no end in sight...

Tnx.

According to AT5 NS will remove the convenience button as per August 20 from all ticket machines other than the ones at Central Station and Schiphol.

Travellers travelling from CS and Schiphol will still have the option to buy this redundant ticket from the machines.
