Cecile was just expressing a little frustration. Your question is too broad. What do you like (what type of food) and what kind of price range? Do want a place with drinks, beer, wine?

For instance, I know this is one of her favorite places and its close:

Thank you for telling me what I was expressing Ddavis!

I just mean that Amsterdam has cafes and restaurants all over the place, no matter where in the city center you are (and the areas outside the center too).

See if you fancy any of these places with varying price ranges:

Top rated Indian restaurant in Amsterdam:

In short, Raadhiusstraat is right in the middle of some of the best restaurants in Amsterdam.

There are quite literally hundreds of places to eat within 15-25 minutes walk from Raadhuisstraat.

Don't limit yourself by sticking to one specific location. Choose where to eat by preference rather than how near it is to where you're Staying. Amsterdam city centre is very compact and easy to traverse.

Cecile and myself seem to have a very similar taste in food. I've been eating at Spanjer & van Twist for years too. Not just in the summer, when it has quite the lovliest terrace in the whole of Amsterdam. I eat there all year round. The fish is very good.

Yeah the cute terrace is the main reason (I wonder if any waiter ever fell into the canal, or got hit while crossing the street between the cafe and the terrace). marcomeurs.nl/images/…20Twist.jpg Or the seating upstairs when it's too cold out. And they tend to have great soups, and very friendly staff.

But as Silverjet says there are hundreds of places nearby.

PS -

For street food, try the vishandel (fish stand) and frietwagon (french fry wagon) on the square at the Westermarkt.

LOL, always funny to see how people just say 'thank you' and ignore all the questions they got back (which would enable them to get better and more suggestions).
