Museumkaart

Hi!

I've tried google, but i could not get a satisfying answer...

Where can i buy a Museumkaart? Can i buy one online and get it mailed to me?

Is it me or Museumkaart site does not have an english version?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Indeed the site does not have an English version. Too bad.

Just buy it at the first museum you plan to enter, bring a snap and of course your id card and pay cash. Not all museums accepting the card do sell it but all bigger ones do.

All the best,

Thanks Erik & Sandya!

Bring a snap? No kidding?

And just one other thing that pooped in my mind... Can i enter the same museum twice or is the Museumkaart valid for one visit only in each museum?

Thanks!

Hi again,

Correction: no snap needed anymore it seems at least for online purchases. The ease of enrolling was more important for them than the fraud risk ;-(

It's valid for unlimited entrance during the year. Possibly some museums would prohibit 2 entrances on one day but that's it...

All the best,

Don't think the card has ever required a photograph Erik. Certainly mine does not.

There is information available here in English about which museums are included

www.amsterdam.info/museums/museumkaart/

The pass is valid countrywide though so lots of other places also. Remember that you can use it even for online booking at the AF huis etc, you just then pay the booking fee.

Thanks Erik & Sandya and RonaldoC!

Lucky no need for a photo anymore! My snap would ruin the card! :)

I guess I'll need more than one visit to Hermitage to see things with time... hence my question about using the card more than one time.

RonaldoC, the problem i find with online booking, is that usually it requires a printer and i wont have access to any once i'm in AMS...

Thanks both!

No picture indeed. That's the reason people sell them to other persons of the same gender in cases where the leave Amsterdam.

if you have a smartphone then al you need is the barcode at the AF so you can download that as a pdf to your phone.

If it hasn't been said before, the Anne Frank House is the only museum where it's advised to reserve online. You do not want to wait hours outside in the rain and cold.

Btw, Zuiderzeemuseum also is included in the card.
