Sports Trip

hi im thinking of taking a few basketball teams to a tournament in Maastricht this august from ireland. We can fly from Belfast or Dublin but not sure where is the best to fly to to get to Maastricht the easyist. Also we could come back by paris and wonder would a day trip to disney land work. we play the 16-18 august and will maybe have 3 teams of 12 kids. Any advice or would this be a big undertaking to organise. any advice would be great.

This is the Train Travel Forum.

For advice about flights look on the Air Travel forum, and for Paris and Euro Disney look on the France forum. ;-)

Getting from Maastricht to Paris and Disneyland by train is fairly easy and it takes 3hrs and 40 minutes by the fastest trains with a change at Liege..

take a look at www.tgv-europe.com

Disneyland is of course outside the city but easily reached by a frequent suburban train, Disneyland is also quite close to Charles de Gaulle airport (Paris CDG) which would have flights back to Dublin.

Ryanair fly from Dublin to Eindhoven and you can take a train from there to Maastricht. Noticing Donegal flags on your post - Maastricht has the only full size GAA pitch on 'mainland' Europe. maybe bring a GAA Team instead and the GAA will advise you :-)

From Maastricht to Disneyland, while you can certainly go into central Paris and out again, it is also possible to get to the Disneyland station of Marne-la-Vallee Chessy by changing at Liege and then again onto a direct TGV train in Brussels. This might be better with a lot of children as it ensures everyone has an assigned seat - the RER commuter trains out of Paris can be a free-for-all at some times of day.
