Day Trip recommendations

My husband, daughter and i will be in Brussels next week. We plan to do some day trips and were thinking about Maastricht. What good restaurants, shops, sites are good to go to ? Any specialities?

Also what is the best way to get there from Brussels?

Hi there,

1 x per hour a direct train from Brussels, taking about 90 mins. See www.b-rail.be for timetable.

Maastricht has a plethora of nice restaurants around the Vrijthof, 10-15 mins walk from station. A major attraction are also the Pietersberg caves; boat trip back/forth and tour together take about 3 hours. Departure near the Maas river bridge connecting centre/Vrijthof and station quarter.

All the best,

<Erik> & [Sandya]
