Booking train from Germany to suburban Zurich?

We are staying at the holiday inn express near the Rumlang station in Zurich in October.

Is it possible to book a train from Germany (specifically Karlsruhe) to Rumlang train station in one ticket? Or would i have to book a ticket to Zurich station and take a suburban train? Any tips for this (for example on the Bahn website)?

Alternatively, might it be easier and more cost effective to catch the train to the airport (which appears can be done on Bahn website) and either train it to Rumlang or catch the free hotel shuttle from the airport.

We'd also like to stop off at Zurich station on the way to final destination, pop our suitcases in locker and have a look around for a couple of hours.

Thanking you in advance.

Hi, it would be just as easy to take the train to the airport, drop your bags at the hotel and then go into Zurich. It will take about a 10 minute walk from the hotel to the Rumlang station and then about 15 minutes into the main station which is the starting point for any sightseeing in Zurich really. Or as you are thinking, put the bags in a locker at the Zurich station and take them later. Both work fine.

You can get all the timetables on teh Swiss Rail website including to and from Rumlang and from Karlsruhe

Hope this helps
