Zurich to Salzburg train route - construction work in Oct.

I just checked the SBB website for tickets and there seems to be some construction work scheduled on the 3rd of October on the Zurich - Salzburg direct train (railjet) route.

Could anyone please help me understand what it means. Will I have to change from train to bus for Bludenz - Ötztal and get back on the train again? The site lists it as a direct / 0 Change route. There isn't any bus change over information.

Thanks for your help in advance.

From SBB.com

"Disruption: Bludenz - Ötztal (ÖBB)

Disruption: Between Bludenz and Ötztal on the Zürich HB - Innsbruck Hbf line, no train services are operating.

Replacement bus services are operating.

Please pay attention to the changed departure and arrival times.

Delays of approx. 40-60 minutes, train cancellations and reroutings are expected.

The connections are not guaranteed.

Duration of construction work from 28.09.2014 until 12.10.2014.

Please note the information at the station.

Please listen to the loudspeaker announcements in the train.

The online timetable at www.sbb.ch has been changed.

Hi distantbells

The explanation seem pretty clear to me.

There will be construction on the line... the trains cannot pass... so they are setting up an alternative bus service for passengers on the trains. This means that the train will arrive in Bludenz, you will get off with your bags, there will be a line of busses waiting you will board and ride on them on the highway to Ötztal (through the Arlberg tunnel). ..this will take 40min to 60min longer than the normal version.

Hope this is clear now.

Thank you for the clarification. I just wanted to confirm before I booked the tickets.

Hi distantbells,

Can I ask if you managed to book your tickets at all?

I am travelling on October 2 from Zurich to Innsbruck and have the same problem too.

If you want to avoid the buses then the alternative route is Zurich to Salzburg or Innbruck via Munich. www.bahn.de

How easy is the transfer between train and buses and how much time does one have? We have 2 kids and several luggages, so my wife's really concerned about the to and fro between train and bus and the rush and missed connections, and we're considering scrapping our trip to Austria altogether and staying in Switzerland all the way. Please let me know if you find anything out. I'll try calling SBB too.

We are on the train at the moment and have just completed the bus leg of the journey. It is very easy and the train personnel direct you to and from the bus. Our trip was very enjoyable and scenic and took less than one hour.
