flying in/out Zurich - Prague/Vienna/Budapest

Hello everyone, we are a family of 4 (kids 13 and 11) planning to visit Prague/Vienna/Budapest. We reserved tickets with miles (otherwise they are unaffordable) - and we are flying into/out of Zurich. Can you recommend the best/efficient way to still do our itenary from Zurich? We are flying in at 7.55 am and flying out at 10am - 11 days/10 nights. thanks in advance.

It's enough time if it was an official connection. Your issue is what happens if there's a mechanical issue etc. And will they through check bags. Are they the same airline? If so, worth asking the airline what happens if 2 separate tickets and connection fails because of their airlines fault. My experience is that they technically aren't responsible but maybe take responsibility for own delays but definitely not other airlines'.

Flying in the night before is safer. But this is definitely efficient. Others can maybe give their experience but names of airlines would help.

Elsa, you will be much better to post this on the air travel forum. All you are asking is not Switzerland related.

I understand you want to use miles but surely you need to tailor your trip to accommodate this. You are going to spend a lot of time and money trying to travel these distances. Switzerland is a fabulous country.

One seperate tickets a 2 hour connection for a transatlantic flight is very short and you could face loosing the transatlantic flight. On your return you would need to pick up bags and recheckin. To be safe you should have an over night stop which adds to the costs. Outbound you would need to clear immigration collect bags and recheckin, if you are late you would forfeit the whole of the rest of your ticket for the European part. If you can do all this on one ticket, transatlantic and Europe, you will be afforded protection if flights are late delayed etc. you would be rebooked on the next available flight that has seats. Booking seperate tickets you bear all the risk. Most of the time it's not a problem but when it goes wrong it can be very expensive. Only you knows your attitude to risk.
