Help with Parents Travel from Geneva Airport to Lauseanne.

My parents are arriving to Geneva Airport. They will be taking the train to Lausanne and I have a few questions:

-Can someone help them with their bags travel from the airport to the train platform?

-Where do they store their bags on the train? (2 Medium/Large)

-What is the stop in Lauseanne called? They are staying in Ouchy by the lake

Thank you!

Hello

I don't think there is a service to help to transport baggages from the belt to the platform but there are baggage carts that you can use until the train platform.

In the trains it depend on how recent the train is. The one which goes in direction of Zürich / St-Gallen are more recent and have dedicate place for bags near the seats. In older one (mainly direction of Brig), it is possible to let them near the entrance of the wagon or between the seats.

The stop at Lausanne is simply called Lausanne. It is the main station of the city. Then from the train station, they could use the metro M2 to reach Ouchy.

Your parents can get the baggage cart in the Customs Hall of the airport. They will need a 2fr coin (or 2EUR or 2p UK). They get this back when they return the cart to a cart "park" on the station platform.

They then leave the Customs area, turn left and walk to the end of the building. then go through the large revolving doors and are in the station. There is an indicator board in the station telling them which trains go to Lausanne and which platform.

The carts lock into the escalator to go down to the platforms. But if this makes them nervous there are also lifts down to each platform.

The trains that go to Zürich are all low-level entry and it is easy to walk on board. The others generally are not and the ones to Brig most certainly are not (!) so they will have to lift their bags up into the train (3 high steps) themselves. There are no porters.

Once in Lausanne I suggest they get a taxi to Ouchy. the other way of getting there would be Métro or Bus. Taxi with suitcases is much easier. There is a taxi rank right outside the station. IF they are on a train to Zürich it will come in on platform 1 in Lausanne and they can walk outside with no steps. If on the Brig train it comes in on 3 and they will have to walk down or take the lift down, walk through the tunnel and walk up or take a lift up.
