hiking trail suggestion from Piz Nair

2 choices for hiking down from Piz Nair

1. Piz Nair to Corviglia

2.Corviglia to Chantarella

Which one is more scenic and spectacular?

Is 1 much more difficult than 2, or there is not much difference?

How long will each take?

Thank you very much.

You actually mention just one hike in two portions. The upper part from Piz Nair to Corviglia has steep parts, then the continuation between Corviglia and the village is an easy hike on a carriage road or you can sidetrack to a smaller path through the forest or take a detour and pass by Marguns and from there down on a carriage road.

As you are looking for alternatives, from Piz Nair you could also go down towards Val Bever and out the Val Suvretta, a wonderful option as well but slightly longer.

Check webcams before you go. With a long winter and a lot of snow, there might be still snowcovered parts depending on when in July you want to do this.

And check all your hikes on the 3D map, it's interactive so you see which parts could be eventually closed: https://www.engadin.stmoritz.ch/sommer/en/

And make sure to do this with nice weather only. When it rains hard, the steeper parts get slippery. Check local weather forecast here: https:/…weather

I would not do the 'direct' route in the downward direction - it is just too steep and tough on the knees/quads to be pleasurable (though it is a good uphill choice). Also it needs to be perfectly dry, as mentioned above. The alternative mentioned in #3 is also a vehicle track and mountain bike route on its upper part, so the surfaces are safer and the gradients less extreme. I noticed last year that the signposting up there was not the best, and some signs seemed to have been turned, so I would rely more on your map just in case they haven't corrected it.

Thanks for your advice. Do you mean that Corviglia to Chantarella is easier than Piz Nair to Corviglia?

How long will it take? Thanks
