Just a few minutes ago the Swiss Patrick Küng won the longest downhill ski race in the World Cup today, though today on a shortened slope, because of too heavy winds on the upper slopes.
Normally, they ski this 4.5km long race in about 2 minutes and 30 seconds with top speeds of up to 160 km/h (almost 100mph).
To get an impression see here the 2011 race by the most famous Swiss Didier Cuche when he only got beaten by the Austrian Klaus Kröll (an epic and constantly ongoing duel between these two countries): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIeZCTVkEhc
