My husband and I (mid 30's) will be travelling with both sets of parents (70 years young) and wanted some of your advice. In mid May 2007 We will be going to Amsterdam for 2 nights then on a rivercruise and will end up in Basel, Switzerland May 27, 2007. From there we will take the 2 hr train to Interlaken. (Is this where the buying a swiss card at www.raileurope.com saves $ for this portion as well as for Jungfrau Railway?)
Should we stay in Interlaken or stay in Muerren for 2 nights? I have researched both and can't decide which would be best. I have heard read good things about Chalet Fontana in Muerren. Is it a good quality B&B? Suggest somewhere else? Used to quality hotels & beds.
I figure we will arrive May 27th in either Interlaken or Muerren (depending on advice I get in forum (-:in the afternoon so that will leave dinner & walking around afterwards then May 28th, we will go to top of Jungfrau (which I think takes most of the day) and again will be back for dinner & after. May 29th we leisurely travel to Zurich by train (can we use same swiss card?) to spend the night and catch our international flights back to states the next morning.
If we did stay in Muerren, how do we get to top of Jungfrau?
Any advice greatly appreciated!!
