Glacier Walk

I posted this on Zermatt forum but so far no replies and hence posting here....

We are visiting the Jungfrau region and Zermatt and hoping to do Glacier walk if allowed and the weather is good.

The question is that do we need crampons with our trekking shoes to avoid slipping and sliding or is it safe to walk with trekking shoes?

Thank you guys for the warning and certainly not underestimating the danger. I learnt this danger when I visited the Everest Base during 2010.

I think this section of the glacier is probably prepared for public to walk and may not be that dangerous.

Yesterday I found this blog which shows a lot of people walking on this glacier.

Is there any such glacier at Matterhorn glacier paradise at Zermatt where general public are allowed to venture out in safety?
