Snow in Interlaken

We are from Dubai and my two kids, 11 and 7 years old would really like to experience real snow. However, based on the demand of my job and school vacations, we can only travel between May 17 to 24 this year. Is there any place in Interlaken or anywhere in Switzerland that we can be assured of snow on these dates?

The Jungfraujoch is covered the year round. It may not be falling when you are up there but it's on the ground all the time.

There's likely to be snow well below Jungfraujoch as well. Go into the mountains above Interlaken and you should see the snow - with the spring flowers coming through as it recedes. There's likely still to be snow at the top of the Mannlichen cable car.

Thank you Mountaintrooper and Skitandoori for your information. Going up to Jungfraujoch is really expensive and we are wondering that there are other places cheaper to experience real snow in Interlaken or Lucerne area.

Will definitely update you Sailesh C. Someone suggested that better buy the Swisspass when you arrive, you will never know the weather and it will be a waste going up to mountains if its really clear.

Dear Cesar P,

Thanks. Just clarify if you are planning to buy Family Swiss Pass for 4/8 consecutive days or any other swiss pass.

Sailesh.

There are cheaper peaks to play in snow and ice. Common peaks near Lucerne are Mts Titlis and Pilatus.. There are more places along the Alps, from Glacier 3000 in the west to peaks in Graubunden. Unfortunately in May, a lot of the ski area are shut down.
