Question on Half Fare Card

We have 3 adults and two children ages 9 & 13yrs. With the SHFC and Family Card, it looks like we still need to pay for children in SBB site for rail from Milano Centrale to Interlaken. Under Reduction of the child section, we indicated as NONE since they will be using the Family Card . However, we still need to pay a rate of CHF42.50 for each child. Adult is CHF43.50. Is this correct to pay for Child since we had the impression that child travel for free under the family card ?

Also the half fare travel card SBB indicate is for 1/2/3- year. We intend to buy the HFC of 1 month for CHF120. Is this the same card SBB site is referring to ?

Thank you everyone.

1. Re: Question on Half Fare Card

The Half Fare Card (HFC) gives the same benefits whether you buy it for 1 month or 1 year or 2 or 3... Most all Swiss have a HFC for 2 or 3 years. The 1 month is for tourists.

It does NOT apply to any train journey in Italy. Aside from the Centovalli line from Domodsoola to Locarno, which you do not plan to take.

Travelling from Milan to Interlaken you will need tickets for ALL of you from Milan to Domodossola. From there on your HFC and Family card take over...
