Pfingstegg to Stieregg hike?

Its been many years since we've hiked in Grindelwald, and now we're intending to come back with a few of our college age kids. It would be next year around end of May.....one of the hikes we'd like to do is from Pfingstegg to Stieregg.

Just for comparison sakes, is that hike open right now in Grindelwald, has the snow melted on the trail?

You can't go to Stieregg itself any more, the whole area where the restaurant used to be collapsed into the valley a few years ago.

However, they built a new restaurant a bit higher upon safer ground at Bäregg, accessible by the same path that used to go to Stieregg. They opened for the summer season last weekend, which suggests that the path is snow free.

Too late to edit my previous post... you can see some pictures of what happened to the original Stieregg hut here: http://www.baeregg.com/content/48/32/

Yes, it's still a good walk, you go a bit above where the Stieregg restaurant was and you can look down and see what is left. Still wonderful views of the glacier.

We were there last week (first week of June) and the path from Pfingstegg cable car station towards Baregg was closed, presumably becuase of snow, which was the case with a lot of the higher-level walks.
