A day in Grindelwald

In one of the days in our forthcoming trip to Wengen, we plan to go to Grindelwald in the morning via WAB train and spend the day (1) taking gondola to First for a hike to Bachalpsee and (2) taking a cable car to Pfingstegg for views and a short hike. Would there be a preference as to which one to do first to get the best mountain views with the least haze for pictures. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Of course your final decision will depend on the weather that day, but I would say go to Bachalpsee first because the morning light nicely illuminates the white mountain peaks on the other side of the valley - for the famous view you'll be looking south, so best to do this before midday. Then go up the Pfinstegg, as then the view northwards down to Grindelwald will be well lit.

Hope you enjoy your trip

The chances to get a nice view is higher in the morning than in the afternoon. As mentioned above do check the weather forecast for the day as if it is cloudy then you would not get any view.
