Grosse Scheidegg to First Hike

When we go to Switzerland in a few weeks we're thinking of hiking from Grosse Scheidegg to First via what is called the Marmot valley - here is the link: www.jungfrau.ch/en/ResourceImage.aspx…

We were wondering here has done this hike and if so do you think it would be suitable for our two children - they are 8 & 3. Any opinions you may have would be much appreciated

It's a fairly easy walk for adults and an 8 yr old shouldn't have much trouble either. I don't know about a 3 yr old. It's an hour 45 min of walking. Maybe if you pack a lunch and take a break in the middle for a picnic.

Hi david_gartrell

For the 8 yr old it won't be a problem, because it seems to bee an easy hike. For the young kid it will be a challange, but possible. I would do it with mine. The most important thing is: Take your time and some sweets. Maybe you have to carry the little one on your shoulder for some time.

Ask at the tourist office if its better do it from "First" to "Grosse Scheidegg" or the other way round.

Starting from First is better because it goes a bit down. But you have know the bus departure time. (every hour a bus, but there is a restaurant)

Starting from Grosse Scheidegg could better because you do not have to wait for the bus and there is a nice playground at the cable car station Bolt. That could be a target for your kids.

Enjoy your trip
