Hi - we are flying into Zurich on November 22 and attending a wedding in Montreux, Switzerland on November 23 (rather spur of the moment!). We are renting a car for our trip. We would like to leave Montreux the next day (24th) and travel through Northern Italy until returning to Zurich for our flight home on November 30. We would like to be able to travel through an Alpine pass, possibly at least enter France (our son would like to say he's been to France!), and travel through parts of Italy. We enjoy small, quaint towns and villages - enjoy hiking, natural beauty, good food and history. We want to avoid cities and don't want to spend all of our time in the car. We have found that being the offseason, many attractions in the Alps are closed, but would still like to see their beauty. Please advise any itineraries that you would recommend or at least towns / villages that you think we would enjoy overnighting on our journey. We don't mind moving every day but just don't want the drives in between stops to take all day. Thanks!
