accommodation in lucerne

hi all, we're looking at spending 3 nights mid-Oct in lucerne. can anyone recommend a not too pricey (i.e. under 200CHF per nite) place which is fairly modern/clean, central and in a safe area. Views and facilities not important. Cheers.

Lucerne is expensive, but there is another option. If you choose the little lakeside villages of Weggis, Vitznau, etc then you get an amazing view on Lake Lucerne with easy transport to Lucerne on the Swiss lake boats.

I like tmynatt's idea and I will look into it since we we'll be there in Sept. However, I did find Hotel Goldener Stern for 150ch. It is by one of the bridges and looks basic but clean. But since we'll be wanting to cruise the lake anyway we'll look at Weggis and Vitznau as well.

If you decide to stay in Weggis give a look to the SeeHotel Gotthard. If it is over your budget at least try to have lunch or dinner there. They have the most spectacular food we found anywhere in Switzerland.
