Car rent Geneva Airport French side

We will be travelling in June 2014 in France and Switzerland. We are going to rent a car on the french side of Geneva Airport as it is cheaper. We are aware that we"ll have to return the car to the same garage on the French side. How do we get to the Swiss side as our departure flight is from Switzerland? Is it far considering the fact that we"ll have luggage to carry.

We"ll appreciate your advice!

Claudia

If anything, the French car hire is nearer the Swiss check-in than the Swiss car hire! Just go to French check-in and then pass through the doors on the other side which lead to the Swiss check-in.

Remember that a French car must display a Swiss motorway vignette to be on Swiss motorways (an annual toll charge). It MAY have one. If not, you can buy one at the border for CHF40.

Claudia S. I do hope you meant I was helpful. I am not sure post 2 is helpful at all. Lonestar_eagle_5 has never posted on the Swiss forum before today and miraculously appears to recommend a new ski transfer company. It's happening a lot at the moment with fluidcar. You can draw you own conclusions.

Anyway he clearly didn't read your post as it isn't obvious why you'd be looking for a ski transfer company in June!

Have a great trip.

There is a full article on this topic:

tripadvisor.com/Travel-g188057-s304/Geneva:S…

In a nutshell, you will be able to come back to the French sector and check-in from there before going to the Swiss sector where your flight will leave from.

Do consider the following when booking your car:

- The vignette as JT14 mentioned

- French car rental companies often give diesel cars, and diesel is more expensive that regular fuel in Switzerland
