Broc and Gruyeres Tour - Transportation

I am staying in Murren and would like to do a cheese and chocolate tour any advice of where and how to get there? We will not have a car so public transportation or walking is our only option. Want to do it all in one day and will save the sightseeing for Murren. Thanks, Beth

Hi Harleyboy2009,

Unfortunately, getting to Broc & Gruyeres from Mürren will be too long for a day-trip -- almost four hours of transport in each direction. You can check the schedules at the Swiss rail site

www.rail.ch

Where will you be before and after Mürren?? Maybe you can see these places while enroute to your next stop.

Hope to hear more.

Would getting to Gruyere from Bern or Montreaux be easier by public transport?

Or are there tours that take you to gruyere from Bern or Montreaux?

Very easy from either Bern or Montreux. It takes about an hour and a quarter from Montreux, an hour and a half from Bern, connections every hour.

As mentioned above, www.rail.ch will give you the train and bus times.

Hi again,

Yes, use the rail site to see the different train schedules. The stop for Gruyeres is simply "Gruyeres," and the cheese demonstration is right next door to the train station. The village itself with the castle and the beautiful preserved buildings is up on a hill -- just follow the stream of folks as they climb up there!

The stop for the chocolate factory in Broc is called "Broc Fabrique." You can get more information about it at

www.cailler.ch

Have fun!
