currency and transportation

will I need and/or be able to obtain Swiss currency at airport ATMs for taxi transport to hotel and ports at river, and to ride public transport to points of interest, and what should I expect to pay?

Short answer is yes to getting francs. This page shows you the currency exchange and ATM information - just look for the ones in the Swiss sector.

euroairport.com/en/…currency-exchange.html

Bus #50 leaves from the door of the terminal to the main train station in Basel every few minutes and costs less than 5 francs. A taxi from the airport to the main train station (basically the city center) will cost about 50 francs. Are you staying an a hotel before the cruise? If so, it would help to know which one to advise you about moving about Basel and to the docks.

Hope this helps.
