Getting around in Basel

We are arriving from France by train and are planning on staying at Der Teufelhof. What is the best way to get to this hotel from the train station? There are two of us and we will each have a fairly large suitcase which could make walking difficult if the hotel isn't close.

From the Train Station it is about 15 minutes to walk. Maybe too far.

You can take bus no. 30 and leave at Universität, then walk 400 Yards.

or

you take a taxi for about 15 USD

You are welcome. Enjoy the City. The area near Teufelhof towards market square is very beautiful. Enjoy!

Hi!

If you are staying near St- louis railway station you can go by train (8 min).If you are staying in the centreor near the station or near the frontiere( with Switzerland) bus n.604 is your bus(it goes to Shifflande stop) or even swiss tram n.11 -you will have to take it on the swiss side, only 200m from the border, and I think you ll need to pay in swiss francs (2.10 ) - which does in the city centre

Sonja,

the tram no. 3 almost literally stops in front of the Teuelhof at the stop "Musik-Akademie".

You will arrive at Basel SBB. From there you take either no. 11, 8 as far as "Bankverein" and change there to no 3 in the same direction. Then just another two stops. Basel is really small ;-)

see here: http://bvb.ch/en/timetable-network/liniennetz

A sort distance ticket is right enough: CHF 2.10

ianaharala,

the short distance ticket for CHf 2.10, as the name says, is only valid for 4 stops (and 30 minutes) max, not more!

tamerhany,

If you are in St. Louis somewhere next to the central street, Avenue de Bâle, then indeed take the French DISTRIBUS bus no 604, which ends in the middle of Basel at "Schifflände" stop. One single ticket costs € 1.30 AND is only valid for the distribus!

http://bvb.ch/en/timetable-network/liniennetz

If you buy a "Ticket Unité distribus & TWN" for € 3.00 then it is valid for distribus and the whole Basel city zone 10 for 2 hours!

And if you purchase an "Alsa+ 24 Heures" ticket for Distribus and Basel network (zones, 10, 11, 13 and 40 + Regio Verkehrsverbund Lörrach ) for € 7 it is valid for both networks for 24 hours.
