Jungfrau and Mt Riji

Is it worth doing a day trip to both Jungfrau and Lucenre/Mt Riji from Zurich, or just one? We will be in Zurich in January for 4 days, so two of those days would be these trips.

Hi Emma-Leigh B,

Some more inputs will help -

1. Do you have to make Zurich as base and do you have only 2 days for J and R ?

2. Zurich to Jungfraujoch is around 9 hours by train to & fro,add another 3 hours on top. Are you OK with this 12 hour day trip ?

Rigi is easily possible as a day trip and you could return via Luzern, take in the Luzern sights and back to Zurich.

Then a day trip to Bern the next day would be nice.

For Jungfraujoch it is advisable to spend both days in a nearby base like Lauterbrunnen or Wengen. The first day proceed to Bern first,do the local sights, then further to Lauterbrunnen or Wengen and make base there.

The next day, weather permitting ( if clear ) visit Jungfraujoch and later if possible Muerren and back.

Check this rail site for schedules - sbb.ch/en

Have fun.
