Hi, it isn't common to have snow at lower elevations at Christmastime. If you want to be as certain as possible of a white Christmas you will need to be in the higher elevation places such as St. Moritz, Zermatt, Verbier, etc. Most are ski resorts and most hotels in the ski resorts require a minimum of a week's stay if not two weeks over the Christmas/New Year holidays. Additionally, you are very late for getting reservations as many of the hotels are full from year to year with reservations or are booked by mid-summer. Where are you traveling from to get to Switzerland, where are you entering Switzerland, how long will you be in Switzerland and where are you heading when you leave? We may be able to make some suggestions if we have more information.

Unless we get another winter like the last two there is no way there will be a White Christmas on the plain! And even two years ago when there was a lot of snow we didn't have a white christmas down here! So, as Kileysmom says, you will have to go up. Choose a high resort...anything over 1500m but preferably over 1700m. Zermatt is 1650m, Verbier is 1500m but many other ski resorts are lower. The further east you go, the more your chance of snow...so the Grisons is a particularly good idea!!

Book NOW! and be aware that normally you will need to spend at least a week if not two...

Slight correction.....there is always a chance of white Christmas in the city, only nobody can give the exact forecast. Go over 1500m and you have a better chance of white Christmas. I have been to Arosa (1800 m) over Christmas and had (no) very little snow. East, west, north, south all depends on the weather situation, your chances arn't too bad.
