Sulga Bus from Rome to Perugia

I want to take the sulga bus from the Rome FCO airport to Perugia. Has anyone taken it before?

Can you buy a ticket on board? What stop would I get off to take a taxi? Also how much luggage is allowed on the bus? I'll be traveling with two large bags as I will be in Perugia for study abroad.

Get off at Piazza dei Partigiani, then hail a taxi or take the series of escalators which cut across the demolished Rocca Paolina (underground) up to Piazza Italia. I can imagine that you'll prefer a taxi.

The "official" free luggage allotment on SULGA buses is one suitcase not exceeding 20 kilos, (see Article 4, hyperlinked below), but I doubt that you'll be charged extra for the second bag, since drivers usually don't pay attention to these details (unless they've been instructed to crack down). Nor will they weigh the luggage!

There is probably an authorized ticket outlet at Fiumicino Airport. Otherwise, the driver should be able to sell you a ticket (or you can buy the ticket at the Roma Tiburtina bus depot, where the bus stops before continuing on its journey).

I use it on a regular basis -- when you go out the front door of the airport, go right and, after maybe 300 feet, you'll come to a long row of diagonally-parked busses.

Look for the one that says Sulga Perugia, load your bags underneath, and hop on. The bus driver will come around with a machine and ask you to pay. If you're going all the way up to downtown Perugia, the price is €24, I believe.

Happy travels! Perugia is great.

When you arrive in Perugia you will get off at Piazza Partigiani. Taxis are usually waiting there, but in case you don't see one and feel like call one here is the number. +39 075 5004888

Does anyone know the actual timetable of Sulga Bus? I'm worried about the bus that departs at 9:00 from Fiumicino (10:30 from Roma Tiburtina).

It's rather old schedule - March, 2010.
