Tuscany

We have 1.5 days in Siena. I will be traveling with seasoned 7 year and 11 year old. Looking for tours and things for us to do. We would like to see one winery as well. Ideas?

There are lots of tours of wineries available from Siena, but it will take up a lot of your short time in Siena. Good activities with kids in Siena are to climb the Torre Mangia and to give them a disposable camera each and set out to find and photograph as many contrade flags and fountains as they can find.

Why don't you take a private guide to let your kids go deep inside the Sienese culture? I think it should be a nice idea to see all the major attraction of the city and at the same time to try to catch the secrets of this place where the people still believe in the Palio and live their life in the big family of the "contrade".

If you would like to taste some wine and at the same time you don't want your kids get bored you may go at Castello di Brolio. There you can visit the Castle and have a wine tasting while your kids will be fascinating by the ancient castle still inhabited by the Ricasoli family. Is not far from Siena.

In this way you should be able to do all you want without stress.

What a shame it would be IMHO to waste time with kids at wineries with so little time in Siena -- wineries are pretty much the same anywhere -- but only in Siena will you see that magnificent jaw dropping Cathedral or get to climb the Torre Mangia. I once spent a morning wandering through the near in Contradi and photographing their icon fountains and the symbols on many of the buildings. Siena is a magnificent place with almost exactly the right amount of amazing sites/sights for 1.5 days.
