Renting a car at Rome airport

We are planning a cruise leaving from Civitavecchia but we are flying into Rome. Wanting to spend a few days in the Tuscany region before the cruise. Is it possible to rent a car from the airport in Rome and return it to Civitavecchia?

Yes. Make sure you get a International Drivers Permitt (IDP) through AAA.

Yes, you can usually return a rental to a different city than the original(sometimes more expensive) just make sure the rental company has a location in Civitavecchia and this is okay to do. We have rented from Avis a few times from FCO to travel to Tuscany or southern Italy.

Important about the International Driver's permit as fatjack mentioned also there are very few cars available to rent with automatic transmission so be aware.
