casole d'elsa

we would like to spend five days traveling thru rural Tuscany and visit Volterra, San Gimigniano, Certaldo, Lucca and Siena and would like a good rural base to take these trips. We are considering staying at Torre Dei Serviti, Casole D'Elsa, west of Siena but would like feed back from someone who has been at that hotel or the town. Is this a good base and are there restaurants nearby for dinner?

we spent 10 days in Casole D'Elsa staying at Torre dei Serviti in Sep 2004, this is a unique hotel.

We had a wonderful time, the staff are a little off the wall sometimes but we felt that added to the hotels charm.

We used the hotel as a base to explore Tuscany and we felt we were ideally situated for first time vistors to Tuscany.

We loved it so much we have booked to stay 2 nights next week!

There are 2 resturants in the village nothing to adventureous but excellent all the same. The hotel has an excellent cook but be warned they will present you with mountains of food.
