Should I stay in Pisa or Florence ?

Flying to Pisa in a few weeks for 3days/2 nights. Should I stay in Pisa or Florence. If we stay in Pisa we will take the train to Florence just not sure which place to stay.

Any suggestions ?

I don't much like either Florence or Pisa as a city, so I would stay in Lucca.

I'll go the other way. I enjoyed Pisa very much--it's an interesting University city, though it does not have the well known sights of a Venice or Rome. But if you are really, really into Renaissance art and architecture, then Florence would probably be a must for you.
