Meal in a farm/countryside near or in Florence by bus/train?

Hi!

Can any one advise if there are any nice farms or country areas near Florence that I can get a nice lunch at and perhaps spend the day exploring? We don't drive, so it will have to be accessible by bus or train from Florence.

Grazie!!

peggypatch, this sounds awesome. A bus from where in Florence? the city bus? how would I go about getting schedules and tickets for this. I LOVE Greve in Chianti and would love the ease of a bus trip.

The bus to Greve in Chianti leaves from the SITA bus terminal located on the left side of the SMN train station. There are buses leaving all day. Have a look at www.sitabus.it for schedules. Tickets can be purchased on the day of travel. Be sure to purchase your return ticket at the same time.

When in Greve be sure to visit the Cantina which is the old city wine cellars where you can taste most of the wines of Chianti.

The walk to Montefioralle through the vineyards is lovely and lunch at the restaurant in Montefioralle is quite nice. However, Greve has many nice restaurants around the piazza. If you go on Saturday morning then you can experience the outdoor market in the piazza.
