Day trip to cinque terre with a stopover at Pisa fm Florence

I know this is not ideal way to see both places, but we dont have time and want to cover Cinque terre primarily, and on the way back if possible visit Pisa. This is in Mid June'13 and we would be travelling from Florence. Considering its going to be a long day excursion I would prefer going with a group tour company. Any suggestions or is it better to do trenitalia to CT and on the way back stop at Pisa?

Roads to the Cinque Terre villages are very slow and very indirect. Use the train.

The Cinque Terre simply are not a good day trip from Florence.

You spend virtually the entire day getting there and getting back, with little or no time to do anything.

Add Pisa to the equation, and you just make it worse.

On top of that, the Cinque Terre have been transformed from a moderately entertaining detour for people going to more interesting and beautiful places into a horrendous tourist trap.

But, of course, it's your holiday.

I agree that it would be a very difficult day trip, but not impossible. See the FAQ on the right. And for what it's worth, I don't recall that we saw anything more beautiful during our trip through Italy than the C-T...but we only made it as far south as Amalfi. Nor did we feel as if we were running into a horrendous tourist trap, but then we were there in late April - Perhaps that made a difference. In short, we had a lovely time, and we will most likely return - to spend a few more days, not as a day trip.

Bad idea...you will spend too much time travelling and the CT will be very busy when you are there. Adding Pisa to the mix is a worse idea.
