paris to florence

Help....travelling with my sister from Paris to Florence June 03 2013....can anyone tell me what is the cheapest/best and most time effective way to do this and where to find the information - we are from Australia and not familiar with anything over in Europe

Many Thanks....Michelle

The very cheapest way is by night train in a berth in six-couchette compartment from https://www.thello.com/?iLangID=3 booked well in advance.

More comfortable and faster might be a cheap flight by Vueling to Florence, or perhaps cheaper, by EasyJet to Pisa then €7.80 one hour train ride or maybe cheaper bus ride.

Fly with a cheap airline. Use www.skyscanner.net to identify possibilities, then book direct with the airline of your choice. Check flights to both Florence and Pisa. Avoid RyanAir, as it uses Beauvais airport, which is a long way from Paris.

To compare prices, do a dummy booking right up to the point where you are asked for your card information. By the time you add in charges for luggage, etc., a discount airline may actually cost more than a legacy airline that includes luggage in the ticket price.

Thankyou so much...have done just that and will probably fly easyjet Paris to Pisa, spend a few hours there and then bus it to Florence - saves and extra trip back there a few days later....now just to find somewhere to leave the bags!

You can take a train from Pisa airport to Pisa Centrale station, where there is a staffed luggage storage office. See the Campo dei Miracoli, then collect your luggage and take a train to Florence.

I have checked out that there is storage at the airport so can get a bus into Pisa....do the touristy things and then get a bus back to the airport, collect bags and bus it to Florence is - is that too much backtracking??? Our accommodation is most likely going to be closest to station S.M. Novella and the bus does stop here. Thanks for your patience all.....have not travelled for sooo long!
