Renting a car in Florence

Any suggestions for a daytrip from Florence. Should we rent a car or take a train. how expensive is it to rent a car for the day and where should we go

It all dpends what you would like to see. If it's a small city, like Siena, San Gimignano, Lucca or Pisa - then you can go very well by bus or train. If you want to meander in the countryside and see tiny places like Monteriggioni - then you can't without a car. All are nice ideas for a daytrip, and once you make up your mind, we can be of help with specifics. Just keep in mind that since Florence is full of one way streets, especially in the centre - getting out in your own car is not that simple.

As for car rental, usually AutoEurope comes recommended in this forum for cheap fees and good service.
