Will be in Florence next week and would like to buy some leather products, perhaps boots, wallet or belt. Any advice would be much appreciated
My best advice is to not have anything shipped to you at home. If you choose to do this, pay by credit card. There have been many stories of people having something shipped as offered by the store and it never arrives. Credit cards will insure your purchase.
Wherever you buy, know the difference between good and fake/ bad leather. I posted a Youtube video as well as started a blog as a result of buying from a bad store in the San Lorenzo market. Check out my blog www.bellasabroad.wordpress.com There are many comments from others that had bad luck.
There is a lot of good leather in Florence and you 100% get what you pay for, so don't think you are going to buy anything at a cheap price.
Good luck and have fun!
Oh, my! There are SO MANY! It depends on the style you are looking for, + the styles are always ahead of the fashion trends in Canada and the U.S.
You will find a HUGE variety of styles at a huge variety of prices.
I have bought many pairs of boots at several different stores and have been very happy with all of my purchases.
BUT, be aware that there are some stores that sell cheap knock offs but are actually made in China- hence the cheap price. You can tell the difference between an Asian knock off store and an authentic Italian store.
Have fun and Happy Shopping! Ciao!
You can find many good craftsmen of leather in Florence!
I remember with a great deal of the craftsman Cellerini .
Other times they can not bear to buy in florence bags and or shoes I bought online from the website:
This site is a kind of association of all craftsmen and manufacturer of leather Tuscany

I shall repeat what I always say about the San Lorenzo street market - 'caveat emptor' - buyer beware. The vendors here are not a charitable organisation and you get what you pay for. If you want something 'cheap and cheerful', go ahead, but don't expect the same quality in your 200 euro leather jacket that you will get in the one from a reputable shop that 'looks exactly the same', but costs 4x as much.
Good quality leather goods in Florence are not cheap!!!!!!!!!!!
There are some good suggestions to stores for leather goods in this feed.
With regards to boots, there are so many great stores all over Florence. It just depends on the style you are looking for. Honestly the most Amazing boots I bought in Italy were bought in a variety of stores in Florence on main and side streets.
