Zagreb Croatia to Florence

Is it reasonable to plan to drive a rental car from central Zagreb to central Florence in 1 day? What should we expect at the border? Advice, Suggestions?

No, far too far. It is some 400 kilometres or so from the Italian border to Florence alone plus the distance from Zagreb to Italy. I would plan an overnight stay at about the halfway mark.

Break it with an overnight - plenty of lovely places to choose from on the way - Venice (park at Piazzale Roma), Padua, Ferrara.

Do beware the traffic limited zone in ALL cities you visit in italy and especially Florence, unless you wish to pay exhorbitant amounts in fines.

I take it you are aware that, if you pick up a rental car in Croatia and drop off in Italy, there will be a relocation fee of several hundred euros?
