Florence to Pisa is an easy trip by train - around an hour. Pisa is about 50 miles from Florence. Check on www.trenitalia.com (English Language version) for train timings

Morning trains from Firenze (Florence) to Pisa every hour at :27 after the hour. Travel time 1h 4 m and 2nd class, one-way fare is 5.10 €. In the afternoon there are several return trains each hour.

Official Tower wesite is at: http://www.opapisa.it/index.php?L=1&T=2

Click on “Plan Your Visit” and then “How to get there” for directions from the train station to the Piazza dei Miracoli.

Walk back to the station through town. We took a wine opener and for our return bought a bottle of wine and sandwich-to-go to have on the train. We were the only ones in the coach at 2 P.M.
